My first encounter with Chinese paintings was in 1984, at the age of 10, when my father brought some painted scrolls and calligraphy artworks from his trip to China. Since then this ‘genre’ of painting fascinated me as much as the miniature paintings from South Asia.

Chinese paintings offer one-of-a-kind experience with their intricate simplicity, fluidity of strokes and spontaneous expressions.

Starting around 4000 B.C. traditional Chinese painting has developed continuously over a period of more than six thousand years. Its growth has inevitably reflected the changes of time and social conditions.
