The wonderful world of watercolor maestro Alexander Votsmush (P-1)

Under - Art, Illustration, Inspiration

This is by far the most impressive watercolor artwork that I’ve seen. The artist is nothing but a genius and a living legend. I never have seen or experienced his kind of watercolour on paper which is full of life, energy, depth, narrative and humour in some cases. It is impossible to fully put down feelings into words. Votsmush’s grip on the medium, mood, subject and overall context in every single piece is mesmerising making you feel as if it is not painted on paper with a paint brush but with a magical wand.

Alex Votsmush lives partly in Russia and partly in Ukraine. I wanted to share more here about him but due to the language barrier I had to confine myself to what I could get from him.

I wasn’t able to fit Votsmush’s work into one post therefore covering it into three separate posts so keep watching the space.

Alexander Korzer-Robinson’s cut book art

Under - Art, Illustration, Inspiration, Literature

I wrote about Alexander Korzer-Robinson’s amazing antique book art earlier this year. Now, here comes his latest work which is also up for grab.

The cut book art has been made by working through the books, page by page, cutting around some of the illustrations while removing others. The images seen in the finished work, are left standing in the place where they would appear in the complete book. As a final step the book is sealed around the cut, and can no longer be opened.
