Video painting by Sweatshoppe

Under - Art, Design, Media, Technology

New media art duo SWEATSHOPPE aka Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy are back from Europe with a new video that showcases their live interactive video wheatpaste in Berlin, Bristol, Belgrade, London and Paris. Over a two week period the duo pasted their videos in over 10 spots including the Berlin Wall, Les Invalides, Cordy House and even constructed a 5 meter telescopic electronic paint roller to create a two-story tall video painting in Bristol.

Video painting is a technology the duo developed that allows them to create the illusion that they are painting videos onto walls with electronic paint rollers they built. It works through custom software that they wrote that tracks the position of the paint rollers and projects video wherever they choose to paint, allowing them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture and create live video collages in real time.

Start from the Beginning

Animated short by Berlin based artist Andreas Fischer who is a designer slash artist hybrid machine working with spatial time-based media, generative systems and physical manifestations of digital processes:

The video examines the relationship between the simulated image and its physical manifestation. The landscape appearing in the video references one of Fischer´s relief sculptures.

The sculpture is magnified and distorted by the soundscape created by David. As time progresses the landscape becomes increasingly complex and distorted and finally changes its aggregate state to liquid. The shapes of the polygons appear in contrast to the fluid with which they collide.

The 3d model was textured with photos of the physical sculpture, which was carved from a block of mdf with a cnc-miling machine.

Alexander Korzer-Robinson’s cut book art

Under - Art, Illustration, Inspiration, Literature

I wrote about Alexander Korzer-Robinson’s amazing antique book art earlier this year. Now, here comes his latest work which is also up for grab.

The cut book art has been made by working through the books, page by page, cutting around some of the illustrations while removing others. The images seen in the finished work, are left standing in the place where they would appear in the complete book. As a final step the book is sealed around the cut, and can no longer be opened.

Anne Siems: Between the lines a dream is hiding …

Under - Art, Illustration, Inspiration, Motion Graphics, Nature

All that I see, hear, touch, experience and dream moves into me and finds it’s way into my artwork. I love faces, bodies, gardens, wide open stretches of land with small forests and fields, old things that have had a life of their own, stories and all the realms in between.
