Simon Schubert and the reality of a blank sheet of paper

Under - Art, Inspiration

What can be created with some folds and creases on a paper?

Looks like paper edges are the only limit to Simon Schubert’s imagination. Based in Cologne, Germany, Simon perfected this unusual form of art over two years. The blank paper sheets are meticulously folded and creased to render lasting impressions. The end result is formed by the light and shade – very subtle yet very engaging to draw you into the details.

Casajordi – realities and surrealism

Souvenir (details) - Casajordi

Souvenir (details)

Fantasy, dream, surrealism, to whatever it takes to escape reality. Casajordi has redefined reality based on his imagination. He enjoys ‘pictures’ and playing with their meanings, and with the duality in between illumination and darkness. I felt lost in his work like Alice in the Wonderland only to wish if I could understand French!

Based in Perpignan (France) near the Spanish border, Casajordi draws his ideas on paper before taking them into Photoshop to create collages – sometimes with over 300 layers spending 15/16 hours on each piece. From overall composition to minute details, you can sense strong narrative expressions as well as unexplained references in his work.

Colosseo – a typographic rendition

Under - Art, Design, Illustration, Inspiration, Typography

Cameron Moll’s rendition of the Roman Coliseum is as engaging as all of his previous typography work has been. Painstakingly handcrafted character by character, the artwork took almost 12 months to finish totaling roughly 250 hours from start to finish.

Characters from the ‘Goudy Trajan’ and ‘Bembo Pro’ typefaces used in the artwork along with glyphs that Cameron recreated based on the work of master Italian calligrapher M. Giovambattista Palatino from around 1550 AD.

Where did You Go?

Where did You Go? by C. C. Carpenter II / Typography Asif R Naqvi

Where did You Go?
You were here a minute ago.
Drinking soda and
Laughing out loud
And loving the wine
And making eyes
In love.

There were two of us then.
Now there is one.

We were having so much fun…
I only shut my eyes
For a minute
And you
Slipped
Away.

Poetry: C. C. Carpenter II, Typography: Asif R Naqvi, Type: Garamond
