Nomadism

Traveller, photographer and cinematographer Marty Mellway compiled this truly inspiring piece of work with clips from his travel videos. The end result is a fascinating fusion of music, poetry and photography – a very intoxicating mix for creative and curious minds!

I use photography and cinema to capture what I see and feel. I live a lifestyle of almost perpetual motion only stopping for short breaks before heading back on the road. I travel as much and as often as I can. My films are a tribute to this incredible world and everything it shares with us. I’m so inspired by the idea of cinema and photography, the very act of capturing light energy and making it mean something is just so incredible and profound – Marty Mellway

… and yes, below is the beautiful poem in this video by Lord Byron (George Gordon) 1788–1824 – narrated by Tom O’bedlam.

SO WE’LL GO NO MORE A ROVING

So, we’ll go no more a roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we’ll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.
