First 2 minutes of an experimental video installation “The Wizard of Oz” by Dennis Neuschaefer-Rube.

The video installation shows the movie “The Wizard of Oz” 5829 times side by side. The movie is arranged in rows from left to right and time shifted by exactly one second each. The video starts at the top left, with the first second of the film and finishes bottom right with the last second of the film. The projection is in a continuous loop that repeats every 98 minutes.

Video painting by Sweatshoppe

Under - Art, Design, Media, Technology

New media art duo SWEATSHOPPE aka Blake Shaw and Bruno Levy are back from Europe with a new video that showcases their live interactive video wheatpaste in Berlin, Bristol, Belgrade, London and Paris. Over a two week period the duo pasted their videos in over 10 spots including the Berlin Wall, Les Invalides, Cordy House and even constructed a 5 meter telescopic electronic paint roller to create a two-story tall video painting in Bristol.

Video painting is a technology the duo developed that allows them to create the illusion that they are painting videos onto walls with electronic paint rollers they built. It works through custom software that they wrote that tracks the position of the paint rollers and projects video wherever they choose to paint, allowing them to explore the relationship between video, mark making and architecture and create live video collages in real time.

So Where’s Home? A film about third culture kid identity

Under - Media, Miscellaneous

This short film about third culture kid identity was Adrian Bautista’s final senior thesis project at Georgetown University for his film & media studies minor.

So Where’s Home? explores the unique perspectives and identities of Third Culture Kids, people who have spent a significant portion of their childhood overseas. The purpose of this short documentary project is to understand why third culture kids struggle to answer the question of “so where’s home?” and the implications this difficulty has on personal identity.

CodeGuard by Epipheo Studios

Under - Media, Technology

Just came across CodeGuard, a free website backup and file integrity monitoring service, through Cloudflare apps page. Apart from the awesomeness of this free service (and of course Cloudflare’s) one thing that I particularly liked is their introductory video by Epipheo Studios. Think it is one of those ‘kinda spontaneous’ videos that you are going to remember for long and may want to watch over and over again.

Excellent job guys and wish if you don’t cost a fortune to hire!

The Eagleman Stag

Under - Art, Inspiration, Media

The Eagleman Stag is 2011 BAFTA award winning short film by director/writer Mikey Please. It’s mostly made out of some strange white stuff, found in the back of a stress cushion. Mikey worked with his brother Bendict Please who composed the soundtrack and score, as well as the vocal talents of cult actor David Cann who lends his voice.

If you repeat the word ‘fly’ for long enough it sounds like you’re saying ‘life’. This is of no help to Peter. His answers lie in the brain of a beetle.
