The latest series of Microsoft’s ‘Laptop Hunters‘ ads are really hurting Apple!

Palm Pre to hit streets on June 6th

Palm Pre

Palm Pre is to launch on June 6th (USA). This is the cell phone I’d been waiting for … since 2003 to be exact when I actually started using Palm PDA. I like iPhone, I liked HTC Touch HD but there was something that told me to wait. Wait for something from Palm!

While most of the competition around iPhone was focused making ‘good looking’ devices so far, Palm Pre is the only one that came up with it’s own Web OS, excellent usability and multitasking that took the game well beyond iPhone.

I might not be able to join the queue straight away since the UK release date is not yet confirmed but this is something I’d like to get hold of pretty soon. I like the fact that iPhone finally has a competition!

Visit Palm Pre website to see UI demonstration or at engadget.

As a designer I don’t like the fact that now I’ll have to worry about one more browser for compatibility but I like Google Chrome! It still has a long way to become a mainstream player but you can bet the future is not that far.

Google puts together few short films on their YouTube channel that are also going to be aired on some TV netwroks. Is the browser war entering into a new era?

Meet the Kluge letterpress

Under - Art, Design, Media, Technology

Letterpress is a specialised and over five centuries old form of printing. It is also one of the inspirational elements behind this blog design. Fiction produced a small interesting video on this.

Meet Nick Sambrato. He runs a print shop in Orlando, Florida called Mama’s Sauce. A 2,000 pound, cast iron, electric powered monstrosity of vacillating rods, giant spinning wheels and pneumatic hoses.

Let Nick take you on a trip back in time as he runs through the process of turning an ordinary piece of paper stock into work of art.
